| Summer Party |
|
Our Annual Summer Party will took place on Wednesday 17th June. We managed to maintain our record of bright sunshine and enjoyed the garden, with a glass of Prosecco, strawberries and cream, and some harp music from Emma Yates. There was a brief talk from Jacob Bolda, a PhD student from the University of York - a postgraduate History of Art student. He has been assisting in cataloguing the extensive collection of old medical instruments and artifacts that you may have noticed in the display cases in the YMS rooms. |

| Xmas 2022 Social Event at The Hiscox Building |
| John Edmonds and John Jobling |
For our annual Christmas social gathering this year we arranged a return visit to the Hiscox building in Peasholme Green, near the former site of York’s wool market, on the evening of Wednesday 14th December from 6.30pm. We heard about the design and architecture of the building and the history of the site, followed by a guided tour to include the eclectic art collection housed inside. All enjoyed a glass or two of mulled wine with light refreshments before the tour of each of the floors housing the art and sculpture. There were many significant works, including delightful Henry Moore sketches of sheep using ball-point pen, some significant paintings by Eduardo Paolozzi and colourful works from David Hockney's iPad creations. Of course, the visit included a close look at the the famous Russian missile, the centrepiece of the ground floor collection. Thanks go to John Edmonds of the Arts Society Ebor and to John Jobling from Hiscox. |
